Collinsville drops two in Gulf Coast Baseball Classic on Wednesday

GULF SHORES – In the Gulf Coast Classic on Wednesday, the Collinsville Panthers dropped a pair of close baseball games, a 5-2 decision to Morristown-Hamblen West (Tenn.) and a 4-3 contest to Oak Grove.

In the loss to Morristown, Gavin Lang doubled, walked and scored two runs for the Panthers. Jeremiah Killian contributed a hit and a RBI. Jake Middlebrooks, Shaun Stewart and Sylas Adams each had a hit. Mason McAteer walked.

Zach Clanton suffered the loss after working five innings. He gave up five earned runs on nine hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
In the loss to Oak Grove, Lang doubled again and two RBIs. Adams also doubled and scored a run. McAteer had a hit, a run and a RBI. Coleton Pettus, Jameson Coker and Justin Pruitt each drew a walk. Clanton scored a run.

Lang suffered the loss after tossing 4 1/3 innings. He gave up three earned runs on nine hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.

Collinsville travels to Fyffe on Tuesday.
