Gadsden- The Gadsden Fire and Police Departments and AMED Medics were dispatched on Tuesday morning at 5:26 AM to a fiery wreck on Rainbow Drive. A Truck, traveling from the direction of Rainbow City, lost control, hit a tree, and continued to come to rest next to a house in the 2400 Block of Rainbow Drive.
The initial call came in as a car striking a house, with both on fire, with people trapped inside the vehicle. The call was put out as a full alarm, and Lifeflight was initially put on standby. When firefighters arrived on the scene though, only the vehicle was on fire, and the occupants had managed to escape the vehicle. It was determined that the house was not on fire.
Gadsden Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire without it spreading any further.
One person was treated, and transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The other was treated at the scene for less serious injures, and refused transport.
The incident remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time.
