Spring Garden softball falls short to Fyffe, ties Appalachian in Spring Swing

JACKSONVILLE – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers hosted their annual Spring Swing Softball Tournament at Jacksonville State on Monday. The Lady Panthers fell a run short to Fyffe 5-4 in five innings and tied Appalachian 2-2 in six innings.

Against Fyffe, the Lady Red Devils scored a run in the top of the fifth inning to provided the difference.

Avery Steward and Maggie Jarrett led the Lady Panthers at the plate. Steward went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run and a RBI. Jarrett was 2-for-2 with a triple, a double, a walk and a RBI.

Olivia Law was also 2-for-2 with a double and a run. Layla Ingram tripled, scored a run and had two RBIs. Helena Ingram walked twice and scored a run.

Lilly McCain tossed five innings. She gave up four earned runs on eight hits with three walks and six strikeouts.

Against Appalachian, Steward was again 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI. Jarrett also went 2-for-3 with a double. Olivia Law doubled and scored twice. Rylie Ham doubled and Addie Word singled.

Steward tossed all six innings. She gave up an earned run on six hits with a walk and seven strikeouts.

Spring Garden takes on Ariton at noon and Ider at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at JSU.
