SPRING GARDEN – The Spring Garden Panthers split a baseball doubleheader on Saturday. They fell short against Dora 10-8 and then pounded Weaver 21-3 in five innings.

In the loss to Dora, Spring Garden scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning before Dora rallied for three in the second and four in the third to take the lead for good.

Connor Bates led the Panthers at the plate by going 3-for-4 with a pair of runs. Grey Simpson went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs. Joel Hunter was also 2-for-3 with a walk. Carson Bostick went 2-for-4.

Clayton Sadler doubled and drove in a pair of runs. Zane Edwards had a hit and a run. Hayes Garmon walked and drove in a run. Brady Ruark and John Welsh both scored a run.

Sadler suffered the loss. He tossed 6 2/3 innings and allowed five earned runs on 10 hits with six walks and seven strikeouts. Simpson worked 1/3 of an inning of no-hit ball.

In the win over Weaver, the Panthers spotted the Bearcats a run in the top of the first, but pounced for nine runs in the bottom half and six more in the second.

Hunter went 3-for-3 with a walk, three runs and three RBIs. Zane Edwards was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, three runs and three RBIs. Sadler went 2-for-2 with a walk and a pair of runs. Garmon was also 2-for-2 with a walk and a RBI.

Ruark tripled, drove in a pair of runs and scored another. Bates doubled, drove in two runs and scored three times. Simpson had a hit, a run and a RBI. Johnny Baker, Noah Barber and Dawson Ellzey each added a hit and a run. Hunter Parris walked twice, scored twice and had two RBIs. Bostick walked and drove in a run. Welsh scored three runs.

Bostick earned the win after working four innings. He gave up one earned run on three hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Parris tossed an inning of no-hit ball with a walk.

Spring Garden hosts Pleasant Valley on Thursday.
