Mrs. Josie Pruitt, age 57 of Centre, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025
at Riverview Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, March 26, 2025 at the Chapel of Cherokee
Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest
Cemetery in Gadsden. The family will receive friends from Monday from 5-7pm at the funeral
home.
Survivors include her children, Seminole (Zachary) Warnken, August (Jarod) Owens, Zack
(Jenna) Fox, and Sherry (Dustin) Parker; Father, James (Ann) Pruitt; 13 Grandchildren;
Brothers, Stanley (Shirl) Pruitt and Hank Steed; Several Nieces and Nephews; Chosen Sister,
Linda (Ken) Wagner.
Pallbearers include Seminole Warnken, Stanley Pruitt, Hank Steed, Zachary Warnken, Jarod
Owens, and Dustin Parker.
Honorary Pallbearers include August Owens, Zack Fox, and Sherry Parker.
Josie was born in Cherokee County the daughter of James Pruitt and the late Diane Mathis
Pruitt. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Emery Owens.
She loved the Lord, and her favorite scripture was Psalm 23, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall
not want.” He was known as a loving mother, nanna, and grandmother and a devoted loving
daughter. She was known as an Elvis Enthusiast and known for her interpretive dancing. Josie
especially loved her dogs, Prissy Mae and Weasley.
