Big first inning propels Collinsville baseball at Sylvania

SYLVANIA – Class 3A, No. 8 Collinsville scored 11 runs in the top of the first inning and cruised to a 19-4 area baseball win in five innings at Sylvania on Thursday.

The Panthers (12-4) posted 18 hits in the game. Gavin Lang, Will Edmondson, Jeremiah Killian and Jameson Coker each collected three hits. Lang tripled, doubled, scored three runs and had four RBIs. Edmondson doubled, scored three runs and had three RBIs. Killian doubled, walked twice and had a RBI. Coker doubled, walked twice and drove in a run.

Jake Middlebrooks managed a pair of hits, including a double, with a walk, a run and four RBIs. Mason McAteer delivered a hit, two walks and scored four runs. Colton Pettus came away with a hit, a walk, a run and a RBI. Justin Pruitt earned a hit, a run and a RBI.

Kyler Beene and Noah Johnson both scored twice.

Zach Clanton picked up the win after tossing all five innings. He gave up an earned run on three hits with a walk and nine strikeouts.
