Lady Warriors earn 5-1 softball win at Ohatchee in 8 innings

OHATCHEE – Emma Hill allowed just two hits and a run with five walks and 14 strikeouts over eight innings in leading the Cherokee County Lady Warriors to a 5-1 softball win at Ohatchee on Thursday.

Bristol Bass gave the Lady Warriors a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a single that scored Sydni Frost. Frost led off the inning with a triple.

Ohatchee tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with a run. The two teams were tied at a run apiece in the seventh, forcing the extra inning.

The Lady Warriors took the lead in the top of the eighth on a two-run homer to left by Izzy Patterson, a solo home run by Journie Cabe, and an Auburn Mullins RBI-single.

Bass and Mullins both led the Lady Warrior offense with three hits apiece. Hill, Kaylee Lewis and Sofie Dawson each collected multiple hits. Patterson finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Cherokee County travels to Cleburne County on Tuesday.
