Industrial Resin and Recycling is in the process of expanding their operation with a new machine and plans to add 10 new jobs immediately.
The larger machine required much more electricity than was being supplied by Piedmont Power and Light. Tommy Trotter, General Manager of Industrial Resin told WEIS Radio News, he was told by the Power and Light Company they would need a 1000 KVA transformer which would cost $50,000. Piedmont Power and Light officials told Trotter they would split the cost of the transformer with the company.
Trotter reached out to his friend, Former Piedmont Mayor Charlie Fagan, and shared his situation. Fagan with his prior experience called Don Hopper, Executive Director of Calhoun County Economic Council sharing the Industrial Resin situation. Hopper then met with Mr. Trotter at Industrial Resin, found out the company would be purchasing approximately $10,000 per month more electricity from Piedmont Power and would be employing 10 new employees immediately and possibly 30 more in the future. Hopper told Trotter, The Economic Council would provide the $25,000 to cover his part of the cost of the transformer.
Trotter said they received the check this week and the expansion continues and should be operational in about two more weeks. He said this would not have happened without the assistance of Charlie Fagan.
Industrial Resin and Recycling recycles industrial plastics and converts it to pellets for commercial use by many industries.
Good Economic News for Piedmont.
