From the Etowah County Sheriffs Office:

ETOWAH COUNTY, ALABAMA – “The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office A.C.E. (Active Criminal Enforcement) Unit has played a pivotal role in the largest Fentanyl seizure in the county’s history, leading to the arrest of Tostig Denard Moore (40) of Attalla, Alabama. Moore is charged with Drug Trafficking (Fentanyl) and is currently being held in the Etowah County Jail on a $1,000,000.00 cash bond.
On March 4, 2025, as part of an interdiction operation targeting drug trafficking, A.C.E. Deputies Lucas Hallmark, assisted by A.C.E. Deputy Summer Doran, initiated a traffic stop on Hwy 431 South in the Glencoe area for a traffic violation. The stop was conducted as part of the Sheriff’s Office ACE Unit’s proactive efforts to combat drug trafficking in Etowah County. During the stop, K-9 “TEDI” alerted deputies to the presence of illegal narcotics, leading to a search of the vehicle. Deputies discovered over two pounds (approximately one kilogram) of Fentanyl, a lethal narcotic responsible for countless overdoses nationwide.

Sheriff Jonathan Horton praised the ACE Unit’s commitment to fighting the war on drugs, stating: “The dedication of our ACE Unit and partnerships with local and federal agencies continue to make a major impact in removing dangerous narcotics from our communities. This record-breaking Fentanyl seizure demonstrates the effectiveness of proactive enforcement and highlights our commitment to keeping Etowah County safe.”
The Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit responded and has taken over the investigation, Moore was already out on bond for a prior Methamphetamine Trafficking charge at the time of his arrest.
The operation was a collaborative effort involving the Etowah County Drug Enforcement Unit, Rainbow City Police Department, Southside Police Department, and the FBI North Alabama Criminal Enterprise Task Force.
Sheriff Horton emphasized that aggressive enforcement efforts will continue, ensuring that drug traffickers are held accountable and dangerous substances are removed from local streets.”
