Mayor Bill Baker of Piedmont Will Not Seek Another Term in Office

The Piedmont city Council meeting for March 4th had several and some heated issues discussed. However at the end of the meeting when it was time for the Mayor’s report Mayor Bill Baker announced he would not seek reelection.

Mayor Baker was appointed to the position after the passing of Mayor Rick Freeman. At the time of the appointment Mr. Baker had 22 years of experience on the council. Mr. Baker was elected in 2016 and again in 2020 as mayor.

In a written letter Mayor Baker thanked the community for the “opportunity of a lifetime to serve a great city and great residents.
