Fire Fighters Injured In Wildfire

On Friday afternoon, a Resident on County Rd 41 was burning trash when it quickly got out of control due to extreme dry and windy conditions. According to EMA Director Shawn Rogers, approximately 10-15 acres burned. Alabama Forestry was on-scene along with Gaylesville, Cedar Bluff and Broomtown Fire Departments to bring the fire under control.

Low humidity coupled with windy and extremely dry conditions caused the fire to jump County Rd 41 in several places, threatening multiple homes. Two firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation by Atrium Floyd EMS and was released on the scene.
