North Carolina Man Arrested in DeKalb County for Electronic Solicitation of a Child

A North Carolina man has been arrested in DeKalb County after sending explicit messages to an underage girl, according to police.

DeKalb County Investigators received a report from a guardian regarding the child’s communications with an unknown male via an app called Reality.

Investigators say the man attempted to mask his identity and provided false information to the girl. He then engaged in sexual conversation, sending numerous explicit images and asking her to do the same.

Following a weeks-long investigation, while working with the Reality app, internet service providers, Google, and cell phone providers, it was determined that Jason Wayne Everette, age 45 of North Carolina, was the suspect.

Everette was arrested on Wednesday morning and booked into the DeKalb County Jail. He was charged with three counts of transmitting obscene matter to a child and one count of electronic solicitation of a child.

There is no bond listed for Everette at this time.

In a statement, DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident:

“We must keep our children safe while using the internet and technology. Please have conversations with your children about chatting and meeting strangers on cellphones or computers and check their devices for unusual activity. The Sheriff’s Office is committed to seek out these perpetrators regardless of where they reside in the country.”

“God Bless!”.
