Albertville-
An Albertville man was arrested in Marshall County for the rape of a minor. Manuel Andres Francisco Tomas, 26, of Albertville is in custody on charges of 1st Degree Rape.
The crime was discovered after a minor female gave birth on February 19th. Investigators determined the birth was linked to Tomas, and he was arrested. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Drug Task Force, and Homeland Security worked on the investigation.
It was determined that Tomas, who is from Guatemala, is in the country illegally. Additional charges may be filed against him as well.
The Marshall County area, and Albertville have received some attention recently with new immigration enforcement policies being put into place by President Trump early in his term.
We recently ran a story, where some area residents there had led protest against the enforcement of people in the area illegally like Tomas. Robert Alderholt came out against the protest, and in support of the enforcement policies.
