Centre Woman Arrested for Arson and Insurance Fraud in Bomar Community…
A Centre woman was arrested earlier this week following an investigation into a fire and subsequent burglary at a residence in the Bomar community. The fire, which caused partial damage to the home, was initially believed to be accidental.
According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, a deputy responded to a report of a burglary at the same residence the following day after the fire. Due to the circumstances, the deputy requested Sheriff’s Office investigators who responded along with the State Fire Marshal’s Office for forensic evidence collection. As investigators continued their work, they identified several inconsistencies in the homeowner’s account of events.
After further investigation, Mary Ann Studdard, a 51-year-old resident of Centre, was arrested and charged with:
• Arson in the 2nd Degree
• Insurance Fraud in the 1st Degree
