According to the Geological Survey of Alabama and the USGS there was a 2.6 Earthquake this morning, centered just north of Menlo, GA near the Alabama Georgia state line. Today’s location is indicated by the orange square on the map below:
Some are reporting feeling the quake in parts of Cherokee and Dekalb Counties.
According to the USGS the quake occurred at 07:00:39. Thirty nine seconds after 7 AM Central time.
Small earthquakes are not all that uncommon in Alabama, in the image below, you can see today’s and others across the state dating back to 1986, as well as fault lines in the area.
