State Troopers went to make a stop yesterday on a stolen vehicle yesterday in Ashville in St. Clair County. The driver fled, which sparked a police chase involving several different agencies, including Etowah County, and Fort Payne Police.

The chase went up Interstate 59, through Etowah and into DeKalb County. The suspect eventually exited the interstate in Fort Payne. Fort Payne Police attempted to disable the vehicle using spike strips, but the attempt was not successful.

Eventually officers were able to maneuver in a way to box the vehicle in and force it to a stop. Officers were then able to take the suspect into custody without incident or injury to any officers.

The initial theft of the vehicle happened at a gas station. A woman had went in, and a man got in her car and drove off. It is advised, if you exit your vehicle to take your keys with you, and always lock the vehicle, even you expect to only be away for a very short period.
