Recently we published a story on Senate Bill 67, introduced by State Senator Andrew Jones (R) of Centre. You can see that original story here: https://weisradio.com/2025/02/14/andrew-jones-bill-to-restructure-the-alabama-veterans-affairs-board-amended-prior-to-vote/
That Bill Passed the Senate in its amended form, and will now move to the House for a vote. If it passes there, it would land on Governor Kay Ivey’s Desk for her to sign it into law. Governor Ivey marked the bill passing in the Senate Yesterday with a Facebook post.
Senator Jones is also working on another Veterans Bill, SB70, that would open a Veterans Center, expected to be located in Montgomery. It would be a Hub of sorts, to give Veterans a centralized location to consolidate resources in a convenient place together, for Veterans to be able to access needed resources. That Bill has also passed in the Senate. To see more, see these videos from Senator Jones Facebook Page.
