The Gadsden Kiwanis Club held its annual pancake day fundraiser this past Saturday, February, 15th. The popular event, dating back to 1958 has been long running tradition for many Etowah County and surrounding area families. The event is held to raise money the club uses to donate to community needs and local scholarship opportunities. The scholarships are donated to various local scholarships for kids in the community. The organization has donated over 2 Million Dollars towards those scholarships.

The community also gets involved in the event. Members from local high school Key Clubs help in serving and cleaning up. Members of the Kiwanis are in the kitchen preparing the food, and running it out, as well as serving. Others from the community also show up to volunteer. We spoke with Pancake Day Chair Misty Sosebee Ledbetter at and following the event. She estimates that around 2,000 people came through on Saturday. Some people dine in and socialize, while others utilize the option to pick up in the drive thru. The event is held in February of every year, so if you missed out, make plans to attend next year!
