Weiss Lake Crappie Rodeo Is Underway

The annual Weiss Lake Crappie Rodeo began on February 1st with 1001 Tagged Crappies Worth more than $134,000. There are 53 fish worth $1000 each, 474 worth $100 each, and 473 worth $50 each and there is ONE FISH WORTH $10,000.

Since the Rodeo began on February 1st, there have been 13 tagged fish caught with $900 Paid Out to Anglers.

Several anglers are bringing in those tagged crappies. Some anglers have caught 2. Tim Pentecost of Leesburg and caught his 2nd one.

Danny Wright of Sand Rock has caught 2 tagged fish.

Tagged crappies were released in all areas of Weiss Lake. Anglers wanting to participate in the Crappie Rodeo need to get their Rodeo Badge at participating merchants around the lake. This event is sponsored by the Weiss Lake Improvement Association whose mission is to continuously improve the fishery, water quality and safe boating on Weiss Lake. All proceeds from the event are invested on improving Weiss Lake for today’s anglers and lake users and for future generations of anglers and boaters.

The Rodeo Badge is valid for the entire event of February, March and through April 30th.
