Ribbon Cutting in Centre for Woodman Life
A ribbon cutting was held in Sunflower Court Tuesday to welcome the office of Woodman Life. The Ceremony was held at 11 oclock at the new location in the shopping center off highway 411 in Centre.
Woodmen Life is A fraternal, not for profit financial services organization built to help families throughout life. They have been Protecting families and Helping communities Since 1883. They provide life insurance, annuities, and investments, as well as help people plan for retirement.
Joy Perry, the executive director of the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce presided over the ceremony. Local members and Woodmen members from across the state introduced themselves, and had the opportunity to speak. Those in attendance heard about the company’s goals, community involvement, support for veterans, and American Flag programs. Following, the ribbon cutting was held outside of the office, proceeding a time of socializing where refreshments were served.
Christoper Bowling, the recruiting and sales manager for the area, spoke on the community involvement of the company. “The main thing we are proud of is being able to be involved in the community.” He spoke of projects their reps are able to get involved with. For example, Each rep gets $500 to go out and help with beatification projects in the community. They often use it to help churches, schools, or other places they can make an impact in the community.
Ronnie Lear, the Regional Director of North Alabama, spoke on the history of the organization and its growth. He said there were 30,000 members in North Alabama, and he expected growth here in the local area. Lear Stated “We Love Centre,” He stated they are going to invest in the area. He said “We don’t want to be the best kept secret, we want people to know what WoodmenLife is all about.” He went on to say “ Alabama is the number one recruiting and number one production in the company.” He went on to thank the Chamber of Commerce and all who attended to help celebrate.
Philip Robertson, the Community Outreach advisor spoke on the civic role Woodmen had in the country, and about the giving back they love to do with communities. He spoke on the American History and American Flag programs. Woodmen has presented over 3.7 million American Flags through their Celebrating Red, White, and Blue program. They help people understand how to care for, display, and even dispose of the flags. The main goal is promoting patriotism. He mentioned the programs partnership with the Gary Sinise foundation, including the “Snowball Express” at Disney World, servicing families of fallen service members and first responders.
There is a pretty special flag on display in the office as well. We will leave it to you if you go to the office to ask about it. Those in attendance were thanked for coming, and gratitude was expressed for the interest and support. Bowling in closing stated, “It is not just about making money, but it is about giving back and helping.”
After the speakers concluded, the group present moved outside for the official ribbon cutting. You can find the new office in the corner of Sunflower Court off 411 in Centre. It is next to the Captain D’s.
