SECTION – Ty Traffanstedt tossed in 17 points, including three 3-pointers. He also had three assists and three steals, but they weren’t enough to lift Sand Rock at No. 4 Section on Saturday. The Wildcats’ basketball season ended with a 70-54 setback in the Class 2A sub-regionals.
Cam Gifford contributed 12 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Wildcats (17-14). Will Cleere finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
Brodie Overdear delivered 19 points, including three treys, to lead the Lions. Jackson Cooper added 18 points. Jackson LuRoy connected on three 3-pointers and had 11 points. Kyler Stewart came away with 11 points. Tyler Green finished with seven points.
Section held a 25-17 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Lions led 40-26 at halftime and 55-39 after three quarters.
Section takes on Southeastern in the Northeast Regional semifinals at Jacksonville State University on Tuesday.
