Hit Christian artist Brandon Lake has tapped Jelly Roll for a collab version of “Hard Fought Hallelujah.”

The track, which hit #1 on Billboard‘s Hot Christian Songs chart, tells the story of someone who chooses to praise God and pray despite their struggles and the heavy weight of their “head, heart, and hands.”

“I’ll bring my hard-fought, heartfelt/ Been-through-hell hallelujah/ I’ll bring my storm-tossed, torn-sail/ Story-to-tell hallelujah, whoa-oh/ God, You’ve been patient/ God, You’ve been gracious/ Faithful, whatever I’m feeling or facing/ I’ll bring my hard-fought, heartfelt, it-is-well hallelujah, oh/ Hallelujah, hallelujah,” Jelly and Brandon sing in the chorus.

“I know God’s got a lot more to do with me,” Jelly tells Brandon in a video promoting their song. “I know that. I know I got a long way to go. And I know that my heart was only to share the faith that changed my life.”

“I might wear it a little different than other people, I might say things that other Christians don’t think or like to say,” he adds. “But ultimately, I have a heart for God and I have a heart for Jesus.”

Singing about personal struggles and faith is not new to Jelly. His songs “Son of a Sinner,” “Save Me,” “Need a Favor” and “I Am Not Okay” also highlight Jelly’s life challenges and contain God references.

This isn’t Brandon’s first collab with a country artist. In 2023, he released a live version of “Talking to Jesus” with Thomas Rhett from their performance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium.
