The state of Alabama has been known for many amazing things from our beautiful state parks to our prestigious universities. We have a lot to be proud of from the “Rocket City” of Huntsville to “Circle City” of Dothan. However as reported by Wasserstein-Home one of our cities was ranked in the top 10 for being one of the most dangerous cities in the country.
The factors used by Wasserstein-Home were the total crimes based in each city, violent crimes such as murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. Other factors used were non-violent crimes like burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft. Rounding out the criteria for the study was population size and Income and Socioeconomic Factors.

As reported by Wasserstein Home the “Magic City” ranked number three on the top 10 of the most dangerous cities in the country. Birmingham has a crime rate of 1,485.0 per 100,000 residents, with a high murder rate. Poverty, gang related issues and underfunded schools are major contributing factors to the rise in crime in the Birmingham.
