High school basketball’s postseason has reached the sub-regional round, and several area teams still have their state championship hopes alive.
In area girls action on Friday, Oneonta travels to Centre to take on the Cherokee County Lady Warriors at 6 p.m. That game will be broadcast here on WEIS (990 AM, 100.5 FM). Other area girls sub-regional action includes North Sand Mountain at Sand Rock, Cedar Bluff at Pisgah and Randolph County at Piedmont.
Then on Saturday, Spring Garden hosts a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m., with the Panther boys taking on Skyline, and the Lady Panthers battling Oakwood Adventist at 7 p.m. Those games will also be broadcast on WEIS.
Other area action on Saturday includes Sand Rock at Section, Piedmont at Weaver, and Cherokee County at Hokes Bluff. Those games are scheduled for 6 p.m. tipoffs.
Winners will advance to the Northeast Regional Tournament at Jacksonville State University’s Pete Mathews Coliseum beginning on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
