According to Gadsden City Councilman Chris Robinson of District 7, there will be a road closure on Lookout Mountain in Gadsden starting today and planned through Sunday.

Councilman Robinson posted to following to social media:

“Good morning, staring today Contractor will be installing detour signs for the valley gutter installation work that will occur this week on Scenic Drive at the intersection with Noccalula Rd. Starting Tuesday afternoon, Contractor will close the section of Scenic Drive so public can begin utilizing the detour route. On Wednesday, Contractor will begin demo operations. On Thursday, Contractor will install the valley gutter across Scenic Drive. The road will remain closed through Sunday and will be opened back on Monday, 2-10-25 to allow time for curing.
Detour Route: Public will not be able to access Scenic Drive from Noccaula Road and will need to utilize detour route during road closure.
From I-59: Traveling south along Noccalula Road, continue through the intersection with Scenic Drive for 0.25 Miles. Turn right onto W Sunset Drive for 350 Feet. Turn right onto Hillcrest Drive for 0.25 Miles to Scenic Drive.
From Noccalula Falls: Traveling north along Noccalula Road. 0.25 Miles before intersection with Scenic Drive, turn right onto W Sunset Drive for 350 Feet. Turn right onto Hillcrest Drive for 0.25 Miles to Scenic Drive”
For a time now, residents in the area have complained of water running off at the 4 Way Stop at this intersection. It has led to issues during cold weather, due to the water freezing, creating a sheet of ice at the intersection. Councilman Robinson had told residence that the issue would be addressed when it was brought up during the winter weather a few weeks back. We will monitor the story, and provide any relevant updates as they become available.
