Congressman Aderholt Releases Statement on Albertville Protests:

Alabama Congressman Robert Alderholt released a statement through his office condemning protestors and activist who gathered Wednesday in Albertville to protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the policies of President Trump. The demonstration was organized by Michelle Medina and her friends. It began at around 5 PM downtown near City Hall and The Chamber of Commerce. The protestors lined streets in Albertville, carrying signs, flags, and banners, chanting and yelling various slogans expressing opposition to the arrest and deportation of those illegally in the country.
Organizers asked for a peaceful demonstration to “champion the rights of those who are hesitant to express themselves.” “We want to show our community that they’re heard, they’re seen, and that if they can’t speak up,” Michelle Medina, protest organizer said. “We will speak up for them.” Despite a heavy police presence, several cars involved with the protest were pulled over for driving recklessly and disrupting traffic. There were no reports of arrest associated with the demonstrators.
“If this was really about criminals and anything like that, you wouldn’t be raiding schools,” protestor Adriana Ramirez said. “You wouldn’t be coming up there. There have been no reports of ICE raiding or going to any schools. The general message was that Immigrants were vital and important to the area. There is a heavy mix of both legal, and illegal immigrants in Albertville.
Alabama Congressman Robert Alderholt, who has represented the 4th District since 1997 condemed the protest as “deeply disturbing.” He issued a statement that reads:
