Warrior boys hold off late Cleburne County surge for 90-85 basketball win

CENTRE – The Cherokee County Warriors jumped out to a 24-point lead after three quarters, but had to hold off a Cleburne County 40-point fourth quarter for a 90-85 basketball win on Monday night.

Reid Jacoway led the Warriors with 17 points, including three 3-pointers and a 6-of-6 performance from the free-throw line. Tatum Perry posted 16 points including three treys. He also had six steals, three assists and two rebounds.

Keyshawn Woods, Jayquan Diamond and Ben Moseley each scored 14 points. Woods added five assists, four rebounds and three steals. Diamond also delivered 13 rebounds and two assists. Moseley also managed 14 rebounds, four blocks, an assist and a steal.

Cooper Allen netted nine points and had three rebounds and an assist. Nolan Neyman finished with five points.

Lyric Ware sank five treys and led the Tigers with 23 points. Cade Shubert scored 21 points. Matthew Wilson came away with 18 points. Cavin Bates and Alijah Ware both had 11 and 10 points respectively.

The Warriors led 22-11 at the end of the first quarter and built a 42-27 advantage at halftime. Cherokee County held a 69-45 edge after three quarters and was outscored 40-21 in the fourth for the final.
