Fort Payne City Schools, Police, Find ‘No Credible Threat’ After Bomb Threat Prank Call

Fort Payne City Schools released a statement Wednesday addressing a bomb threat received Tuesday evening.

In the statement, Superintendent Brian L. Jett said the central office phone system had received a call stating that there was a “bomb underneath our school.”

After an extensive investigation by school officials and the Fort Payne Police Department’s Detective Division, the call was deemed to be a prank by an 11-year-old from child from another school district outside of DeKalb County.

Jett said that after interviewing the child and parents, it was determined that there was no credible threat and that this was one of many prank calls made by the child.

He assured the community that all school campuses have been searched by both administration and law enforcement.

According to Fort Payne Police Chief David Davis, “the investigation is ongoing and will be turned over to the juvenile authorities.”
