Due to the dangerously cold temperatures expected, several closings and delays from around the WEIS coverage area have been announced for Tuesday, Jan. 21. See the current list below:
School Closings & Delays
Alabama:
Albertville City Schools: 2-hour delay.
Anniston City Schools: closed.
Boaz City Schools: 2-hour delay.
Calhoun County Schools: all campuses closed; E-Learning.
Cleburne County Schools: closed.
DeKalb County Schools: 2-hour delay.
The Donoho School: closed
Etowah County Schools: 2-hour delay.
Faith Christian School of Anniston: closed.
Fort Payne City Schools: 2-hour delay.
Gadsden City Schools: 2-hour delay.
Gadsden State Community College: delayed; faculty and staff report to work at 9:30 a.m., classes will start at 10 a.m.; payment deadline has been extended to Monday, Jan. 27.
Jacksonville Christian Academy: closed.
Jacksonville City Schools: closed.
Marshall County Schools: 2-hour delay.
Northeast Alabama Community College: will open at 9:30 a.m.
Oxford City Schools: closed; extracurricular activities and board meeting canceled.
Georgia:
Chattooga County Schools: Learn From Home Day; after school activities will continue as planned.
Floyd County Schools: closed; all afternoon and extracurricular activities will proceed as scheduled.
Georgia Highlands College: remote operations; classes and operations will continue virtually.
Georgia Northwestern Technical College: all classes, activities, and events are canceled.
Polk County Schools: closed.
Rome City Schools: Independent Learning Day for staff and students; no after-school activities.
Trion City Schools: OPEN; however, absence will not counted if parents don’t deem it safe.
Government Closings
Alabama:
Cedar Bluff Utilities: closed; board meeting rescheduled for 4 p.m. on Jan. 28.
Georgia:
Chattooga County Health Department: closed.
Floyd County Health Department: closed.
Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District office in Rome: closed.
Polk County Health Department: closed.
