According to reports, a man in his 30’s was attempting to throw paint thinner on a bon fire when he received critical burns to his lower extremities and body.
He was treated on the scene by medical personnel from Atrium Floyd EMS, then transported to the helipad at Atrium Floyd Cherokee Medical Center where a medical helicopter was waiting to transport the victim. He was airlifted to UAB Medical Center in Birmingham where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
The accident occurred late Saturday afternoon at a residence in the Big Nose Drive Community.
