Anniston Streets and Warming Stations Open

The City of Anniston has reopened local roads as of 12:30 PM CT. However, we strongly urge all citizens to travel with extreme caution and at their own risk. While most major roads are passable, certain areas remain hazardous and/or impassable, especially roads with steep inclines and less traffic.
High-Risk Areas – Try to Avoid:
    •    East 10th Street: https://maps.app.goo.gl/vUzQeRZydRzyL65KA.
    •    Henry Road: https://maps.app.goo.gl/bsi6Da14BHbXt6cQ8.
    •    Greenbrier Dear Road: https://maps.app.goo.gl/vxBJH2HNmuoPzm836.
These roads are particularly dangerous due to lingering ice and snow. Black ice is a major risk in these areas and can cause accidents due to its nearly invisible appearance.
Nighttime Driving Warning:
Temperatures are expected to drop tonight, causing wet roads to refreeze. Nighttime travel is highly discouraged as conditions will become even more hazardous.
