Maxine New Cagle, 81, of Collinsville, Alabama, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 5th at Wilson Funeral Home of Fort Payne with Rev. Jessie Parker and Rev. John Keefe officiating. Burial will follow in New Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years George W. Cagle; children Rev. Alan Cagle (Donna), Mark Cagle, and Lisa Paul (Mark); grandchildren Faith and John Mark Smith, Stephen and Kirstin Cagle, Elizabeth and Parker Bond, Daniel Cagle, Jonah and Grady Paul and Sonja Paul; great-grandsons Warren Cagle, Simon Cagle and Judson Smith; sister Jan Walker; and sister-in-law Betty New.
She was born January 21, 1943 in Cherokee County, Alabama to the late Johnnie William New and Elsie Irona Woodall New. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where she worked for many years in the children’s program. She also worked with the Cobb County Geogia Board of Education as a teacher’s aide. Maxine lived her life in a way that honored God, her husband, her family and her community.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Donald New, Doyle New, and sisters Earline Wigley and Audine Dollar .
