Spring Garden girls suffer first loss of season

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers suffered their first loss of the basketball season on Monday night, a 53-43 setback to Webb School of Knoxville, Tenn., in the Andrew Johnson Bank Ladies’ Basketball Classic.

Ace Austin collected 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block to lead the Lady Panthers (15-1). Maggie Jarrett added 14 points, three rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block. Olivia Law finished with five points, three rebounds, a steal and a block.

Webb held a 14-13 lead after one and a 23-22 edge at halftime. They extended the lead to 41-35 after three quarters.

The Lady Panthers will play in the tournament’s third-place game on Tuesday against Spring Valley, WV at 2:30 p.m.
