Austin’s buzzer-beating trey the difference as Garden girls nip Knox Catholic 57-54

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Ace Austin sank the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer, lifting the Spring Garden Lady Panthers to a 57-54 basketball win over Knox Catholic in the Andrew Johnson Bank Ladies Classic in Greeneville, Tenn., on Friday.

Austin finished with 35 points, including six treys. She also had 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block for the Lady Panthers (14-0).

Avery Steward and Maggie Jarrett both netted six points. Steward added an assist and a steal. Jarrett dished out three assists. Montana Highfield finished with five points and a pair of rebounds.

Knox Catholic led through three quarters. They were up 15-7 at the end of the first quarter, 26-22 at halftime and 39-34 after three quarters before the Lady Panthers closed out the game on a 23-15 run.

Spring Garden plays in the tournament winners bracket against Upperman, Tenn., on Saturday at 6 p.m.
