The Food and Drug Administration said a recall of organic eggs sold at Costco is now classified at the highest risk level for potential salmonella contamination.

The upgraded level means there is “a reasonable probability” that a recalled product “will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

It comes about one month after New York-based Handsome Brook Farms voluntarily recalled nearly 11,000 of the eggs.

The 24-count packages of organic pasture-raised eggs were sold under the Kirkland Signature brand.

The eggs were distributed to 25 Costco stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

They have a use-by date of Jan. 6.

So far, there are no reports of anyone getting sick.

People who may have the eggs should either throw them out or return them to the store for a refund.
