Skills Training Division Holds Pinning Ceremony Program Completers

The Gadsden State Community College Skills Training
Division recognized students earning their certification as medication
assistants, advanced nursing assistants and phlebotomist during a
pinning ceremony Dec. 17 in the Science Building on the East Broad
Campus.

The 11-week Advanced Nursing Assistant Program is designed to meet the
growing needs of the community’s healthcare system. It prepares students
to perform routine nursing-related services, including phlebotomy, to
patients in hospitals or long-term care facilities.

Completers of the Advanced Nursing Assistant/Phlebotomy Program are:

Altoona – Samantha Burns

Attalla – Kynzlon Gibbs, Baylor Gilmer and Sydney McGuire

Gadsden – Indyia Johnson and Erykah Watson

Hokes Bluff – Olivia Freitag

Munford – Ashley Gilliam

Rainbow City – Chloe Prather

All completers have passed the Certified Nursing Assistant Examination.
Four students – Samantha Burns, Kynzlon Gibbs, Ashley Gilliam and Sydney
McGuire – passed the Certified Phlebotomy Technician Examination as
well.

The Medication Assistant Program, designed to complete in five weeks,
prepares students to administer routine medications to patients in
healthcare facilities, like nursing homes and assisted living
environments.

Gadsden – Ashley Gary, Carla Lawler and Kimberly McElrath

Jacksonville – Rashae Hartness

Piedmont – Kaitlyn McGatha

Ragland – Bettie Keller

Wellington – Teresa Miller

Weaver – Toni Stevenson

Students are prepared to sit for the Medication Aide Certification
Examination.
