Gadsden State Community College PD joins forces with Gadsden PD’s
Narcotics Unit
_Gadsden, AL – _Gadsden State Community College is proud to announce a
collaborative partnership with the Gadsden Police Department aimed at
strengthening public safety efforts in the community.
As part of this initiative, the GSCC Police Department will be adding
officers to GPD’s Street Crimes and Narcotics (SCAN) Unit, further
enhancing the resources available for combating drug-related crimes in
Gadsden.
The partnership represents a continued commitment to ensuring the
safety and well-being of GSCC students, faculty, staff, and the broader
community. By joining forces with the highly trained officers of the
Gadsden Police Department’s SCAN Unit, GSCC is taking proactive steps
to address the growing concerns of illegal drug activity and
trafficking.
“We are excited to enhance our collaboration with the Gadsden Police
Department and extend our support to the SCAN Unit,” said Gadsden
State Police Chief Jay Freeman. “This partnership strengthens our
ability to maintain safe and secure campuses within the city limits of
Gadsden while contributing to broader safety initiatives in the
community. Our commitment to the safety of our students, staff, and
faculty remains unwavering, and we will continue to innovate and
collaborate to create the safest environment possible for all.”
The GSCC officers assigned to the SCAN Unit will undergo specialized
training alongside GPD officers, allowing for a seamless integration of
efforts. These officers will work in coordination with GPD’s
experienced narcotics officers to identify and address drug-related
issues more effectively, increase enforcement, and disrupt trafficking
operations.

another proactive step in reducing drug activity in our city, and it
benefits not just the college but all residents of Gadsden.”
The addition of GSCC officers to the SCAN Unit underscores the

This initiative will officially take effect on Jan. 1, 2025.
