A 9-1-1 call was made on Monday afternoon just after 4 p.m. reporting that a vehicle had been stolen from Coheley’s Body Shop in Centre.
Dispatch broadcast a BOLO with a description of the vehicle and law enforcement immediately began looking for the car, a 2011 Honda Accord.
Deputies saw the car on County Road 63 in the Sand Valley community and attempted to stop the car. The driver chose not to stop and a pursuit began. The vehicle was traveling on Highway 9 toward Cedar Bluff when the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the roadway.
The suspect, Christopher Lee age 20 of Leesburg, was immediately taken into custody and charged with first degree theft of property, first degree criminal mischief, unlawful possession of marijuana and attempting to elude. He was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
Police officers from Cedar Bluff, Centre and Leesburg also responded.
