Sand Rock boys pull away from Coosa Christian 64-47

SAND ROCK – Ty Traffanstedt tallied 24 points, including a 6-of-7 effort from the free-throw line, to lead the Sand Rock Wildcats past Coosa Christian 64-47 in Monday night basketball action.

Traffanstedt also had three rebounds and two assists for the Wildcats (8-5). Jonas Browder connected on three 3-pointers and had 13 points and seven rebounds. Cam Gifford and Will Cleere both came away with 12 points. Gifford sank a pair of treys and had five rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals. Cleere also contributed seven boards,

Kylen Johnson led Coosa Christian with 17 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. DJ Mackey managed 13 points and J’ahn Terry tallied eight points, including a pair of treys.

Coosa led by a single point at the end of the first quarter 16-15 and by a point at halftime 28-27. Sand Rock surged ahead in the third quarter at 43-36, then used a 21-11 run in the fourth for the final.

Sand Rock travels to Spring Garden on Thursday.
