Lady Warriors double up on Piedmont

CENTRE – Nevaeh Gaidurgis scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Cherokee County Lady Warriors to a 50-25 basketball victory over visiting Piedmont on Friday.

Deannia Starr tossed in11 points for the Lady Warriors (8-1). Ellisan Givens and Brooklyn Bruce both finished with nine points.

Mel Studdard and Josie Young led Piedmont (3-5) with six points apiece.

The Lady Warriors began the game on a 9-0 run and led 20-10 at the end of the first quarter. They held Piedmont scoreless in the second and took a 38-10 advantage at halftime. Cherokee County led 44-19 after three quarters.

Cherokee County travels to Cleburne County on Tuesday. Piedmont is at Westbrook Christian, also on Tuesday.
