Warriors fall short in home basketball opener against Oneonta

CENTRE – Jayquan Diamond led three Cherokee County basketball players in double figures with 15 points, but the Warriors fell short to Oneonta 55-52 in their home opener on Thursday.

Tatum Perry tossed in 11 points for the Warriors. Ben Moseley finished with 10 points.

Keith Smith connected on a pair of 3-pointers and had 14 points to lead the Redskins. Luke Maples and Kollin Weston scored nine points apiece.

Oneonta held a 14-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Redskins extended their lead to 28-15 at halftime and held a 43-36 edge after three quarters.

Cherokee County hosts Piedmont on Tuesday evening.
