Clanton posts double-double in Sand Rock girls area basketball win at Cedar Bluff

CEDAR BLUFF – Maddie Clanton tossed in 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in leading the Sand Rock Lady Wildcats to a 53-23 Class 2A, Area 13 basketball win at Cedar Bluff on Tuesday.

Macey Pruitt posted 10 points and seven steals for the Lady Wildcats (8-2, 2-0). Megan Smith added nine points and seven rebounds. Molly Grace Lay collected six points, seven steals and seven assists. Peyton Johnson finished with seven points.

Kylie Vadon led the Lady Tigers (6-3, 0-1) with 15 points.

Sand Rock held a 13-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter, then used a 20-4 run in the second to blow the game open at 33-13. Sand Rock led 45-21 after three quarters.

Sand Rock travels to Ragland on Thursday. Cedar Bluff hosts Ohatchee.
