Cherokee County EMA Announces Free Boating Basics Course Offered by ALEA

The Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency is pleased to announce a free Boating Basics course being offered by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). The course will take place at the Cherokee County EMA, located at 260 Cedar Bluff Road in Centre.

The course will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. For those who currently do not have a boating certification and vessel endorsement on your license, it is important to have this course before operating a vessel on our waterways.

This class is designed for ages 12 and up. Children under the age of 12 are not eligible to take the exam. Anyone under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older.

This class is being offered free of charge.

Please make sure you have your driver’s license with you or your social security number if you don’t have a driver’s license. Attendees will also need to bring a notepad and something to write with.

If you just need a refresher, you are welcome to attend one of these courses as well.

This class is being presented by the ALEA and hosted by the Cherokee County EMA.
