Collinsville City Council Regular Meeting

During the Monday evening Collinsville City Council Meeting, Mayor Johnny Traffanstedt addressed the Council with the Mayor’s Report. He discussed at length about the solid waste for the county and the future.

The Mayor is looking for a new trash removal company or something better than they currently have because, “the garbage has to be taken care of” Traffanstedt stated. The Mayor is looking into purchasing a side-arm truck. He informed the Council it will take at least a 3-month period before they obtain all the pertinent information needed to put this to a Council’s vote.

Next on the agenda, City Clerk Jill Tidmore told the Council she is still polishing up the 2024-25 Budget. She informed the Council there will be a 5-percent increase in pay for full-time employees. The Council reviewed the preliminary budget report. She also reminded the Council that the Collinsville Christmas Parade will be on December 14.

Mayor Traffanstedt then called on Police Chief Andy Brown. Brown informed the Council they had one police officer leaving and they need to be proactive and fill this vacancy soon.

Fire Chief David Bowen informed the Council their jeep is almost ready for pick up. Bowen also informed the Council the Collinsville Fire Department is having a Boston Butt Fundraiser. The price is $40 per ticket.

The Council then addressed a bid for rehab of the Gravity Sewer Collection and Justin Foster as a new member at the Water and Sewer Board. Both were approved unanimously.

The next Collinsville City Council Meeting will be on December 14.
