Cherokee County, Piedmont among quarterfinal football teams

The Alabama High School Athletic Association state football playoffs have reached the quarterfinal round (Class 7A is in the semifinals), and two area teams’ championship hopes are still alive.

In Class 3A, perennial state champions collide when Fyffe (9-2) pays a visit to Piedmont (12-0). In Class 4A, Cherokee County (11-1) travels to Brooks (10-2) in a first-ever meeting between the two teams in the Foothills Tractor Game of the Week. Games will kick off at 7 p.m.

Below is a list of Friday’s state playoff pairings.
