City of Centre Council Regular Meeting

During the Tuesday afternoon City of Centre Council Meeting, Mayor Mark Mansfield addressed the council about Tommy Loder, Chairman of Alcohol Review Committee’s recommendation for Jeffery Smith, the new owner of Gridiron of Centre, receiving a restaurant Class 1 retail liquor license. This was approved by Council unanimously.

Next on the agenda, Mansfield discussed at length Christmas on the Main. This event will take place on Thursday, December 19 from 5-7p.m. The Council appropriated $1,000 for expenses for Cyndi Day and another $650 for the horse and carriage for the Christmas Parade. These were both approved by Council.

The Council then approved $9,177.96 for the invoice from Southland Transportation for repairs on truck # 41, along with approving $5,451.95 for the invoice for repairs from Foothills Tractor for repairs on tractor #16.

Mayor Mansfield then called on Raymond Matthews, Building Inspector, to address the Council about the change order for the new City Hall. This involves mitigation of the water system. The new order price is $14,806.25. This was approved by Council.

After that, Mansfield called for an Executive Session with Council at approximately 5:10 p.m. The Council reconvened at 5:36 p.m. This was on the agenda as pending litigation about former Centre Parks and Recreation Supervisor Stacy Jones. He filed a lawsuit against the City saying he was underpaid.

Centre City Attorney Al Shumaker addressed the Council about this situation during the Executive Session. It was determined and approved by the Council. The City of Centre will pay Jones a total of $20,509.

In the Mayor’s Comments, Mansfield said Trunk or Treat was great and thanked all City Employees.

In Council Comments, they were really happy with the turnout of Art in the Park and thanked Chad Steed and all the volunteers for their hard work.

The next City of Centre Council meeting will be Tuesday, November 19.
