Etowah County Probate Judge Scott Hassell says this election is a great opportunity for young people to learn how to serve others.
Judge Hassell is talking about getting involved and learning how government actually works. He says Etowah County has 60 students that will be participating as poll workers in this year’s election, including high school seniors who are 18 years old and registered voters working as regular poll workers.
Hassell says this is a great opportunity for young people to take what they’re learning about democracy and put it into real life.
“I always tell the kids as we did the training a couple of weeks ago just how important that is and how significant it is what they’re doing this particular year. It may not seem like a big deal for them today, but getting to participate in this election which potentially could be a historic election for us as a nation. They’re getting to be part of history,” said Hassell.
Judge Hassell says he has more than enough poll workers for Tuesday night.
