Cherokee County Commission Meeting

During the Monday afternoon Cherokee County Commission Planning Session , Chairman Tim Burgess addressed the Commission about the subject Parades. Burgess, said this situation occurred between the last meeting and the current meeting. This was about the possibility of a Halloween Parade at the Rock Run Baptist Church. Chairman Burgess, informed the Commission that Parades normally happen in municipalities and towns. He also addressed the Annual Rock Run Christmas Parade which has been a mainstay going on 20 years. There had been some Social Media Chatter about the possibility of a Halloween Parade that was “incorrect”. Commissioner Nichols made the statement if it isn’t broke don’t fix it in regards to Parades. The Commission came to the conclusion keep the situation the same.

During the actual meeting of the County Commission, the Commission authorized and approved the Cherokee County Public Library to close on Thursday, December 5th, 2024 for their Regional Christmas Meeting.

Next on the agenda, the Commission approved the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Amendments as per the Revenue Commissioner, Dustin St. Clair.

The Commission unanimously approved the Master Lease Purchase Agreement with Lease Servicing Center, Inc.( DBA NCL Government Capital) for the purchase of two Kenworth T-480 dump trucks and a Mower Max Gen 4 boom mower and authorize  the Chairman to sign all related documents.

The next Cherokee County Commission Meeting will be Wednesday November 13th at 9am.
