CENTRE – Centre Elementary School, Centre Middle School and Cherokee County High School held a special send-off for the Lady Warrior volleyball team Monday morning. The team is competing in the Class 4A Elite 8 state volleyball tournament on Tuesday in Birmingham. They will be playing Prattville Christian at noon on Tuesday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The Lady Warriors (42-15) qualified for the state tournament last Thursday after finishing fourth in the North Super Regional at Hoover’s Finley Center. It’s the second straight year they have qualified for state.
Cherokee County is one of two teams from the area playing in the state tournament this week. Defending Class 1A state champion Spring Garden (36-11) will also be competing at the CrossPlex on Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. They will take on Millry in their opening match. The Lady Panthers swept their way through the Class 1A North Super Regional in Hoover to claim the regional title on Friday.
