Cedar Bluff Town Council Meeting
The Council had 14 items on their agenda for the Monday afternoon meeting with 5 of those items being Tabled until next meeting.
The meeting got underway with Mayor Tammy Crane asking for approval of minutes from previous meetings of September 20 and A special called meeting of September of September 23rd. The Council approved both.
The approval of financial report for September was Tabled due to the report not being available.
Police Chief Jeremy Stepps gave the Department’s Report for the Month with officers patrolling 10,735 miles within the jurisdiction with 62 warrants and 41 traffic issued, 3 felony arrests , 14 misdemeanor arrests, 11 warrants served and 44 incident and offense reports issued.
Firefighter Bill Warren gave the Fire Department report for the month with 6 structure fires, 1 trash or rubbish fire, answered 3 medical calls, assisted with 2 auto accidents with injuries, responded to 1 shorted electrical equipment call, had 1 smoke removal, 1 false alarm, 3 malicious false alarms and had 2 wind damage assessments.
The Building Inspector, Mark Baty, reported 6 building permits with 6 sewer permits, 1 nuisance letter, and 5 Camper Permits issued.
The Council approved 2 Volunteer Firefighters for the Department pending background check and drug test. They also approved the lettering for the new brush truck at a cost of $175.
Approval for Air Pack testing was tabled until the next meeting and the Council approved depleting the ARPA Fund Account in the amount of $3387 and using that to purchase hand sanitizing stations throughout the Park from Cintas.
Several Items were declared surplus and will be sold on Gov Deals Dot Com. Those items were Christmas Lights, miscellaneous fire department inventory, including a truck bed and air packs and bottles. Action on the 2021 Chevy Tahoe Police Vehicle was tabled until next meeting.
The Budget approval was on the agenda but had to be tabled due to not having sufficient information to prepare the budget for the next fiscal year.
Mayor Crane announced the 19th Trunk or Treat Event will be held on October 31st in the Town Park at 5 pm with inflatables and Candy for the children.
The next meeting of the Cedar Bluff Town Council is set for November 12th in the Council Chambers.
